Legendary Entertainment Announces They’re Remaking “The Toxic Avenger”!

Last we heard, Lloyd Kaufman is working on a fifth installment in Troma’s Toxic Avenger franchise, but we’ve learned tonight that Legendary Entertainment has now acquired the feature film rights for a remake of the original film.

PETER JACKSON HAS BEEN BUSY RESTORING HIS OLD FILMS

“I’ve decided to go back and do this to my old films — the first four I made, which I own but never re-released,” Jackson told The Hollywood Reporter. “I’ve done some tests on Braindead, where we took the 16mm negative and put it through our World War I restoration pipeline — and s–t, it looks fantastic!

Exclusive: Jordan Peele’s ‘Us’ Plot Synopsis Promises a New Twist on a Familiar Premise

Ever since making his directorial debut with the acclaimed thriller Get Out, comedian and filmmaker Jordan Peele has been endlessly busy with new projects. He’s working on a new iteration of The Twilight Zone, producing a remake of Candyman, voicing a role in Toy Story 4, and more. But the first feature film since his Oscar-winning debut will be called Us, and until now we knew relatively nothing about this project.

Date Announced for SUSPIRIA Blu-ray/DVD

Expect to see Luca Guadagnino’s ambitious remake of Dario Argento’s Suspiria to adorn many Top Horror Movies of 2018 lists. We might even be seeing Tilda Swinton at the next Academy Awards with a Best Actress nomination (in addition Toni Collette for Hereditary, of course). If you missed Suspiria during its limited theatrical run, or if you want to own a physical copy of the film after watching it online, you’ll be able to purchase a Blu-ray or DVD beginning January, 29th.

Director’s Cut of Lars von Trier’s Serial-Killer Drama The House That Jack Built Delayed After Ratings Board Controversy

The House That Jack Built received polarized reviews at Cannes, which is nothing new for Von Trier, with many critics wincing at its graphic depiction of the murders of two boys and a female victim’s brutal mutilation—although the storied French journal Cahiers du Cinéma did place the film on its Top 10 films of 2018. But if you’re going to see a Lars von Trier movie about a serial killer in the first place, it stands to reason you know you’re in for an extreme experience, and it’s hard to imagine Von Trier die-hards settling for anything less.

Blumhouse Finally Hires a Woman Director: Sophia Takal’s All-Female Horror Movie

The next entry in the series, IndieWire has learned, comes from a filmmaker familiar from the festival circuit: Sophia Takal, the director of “Green” and “Always Shine,” helmed the all-female horror movie “New Year New You” for the series. The 85-minute feature will premiere on Hulu on December 28

Ryan Reynolds to Produce Horror Movie Based on Reddit Story

It now appears that one of Reynolds' next producing projects will be The Patient Who Nearly Drove Me Out Of Medicine. As reported by Variety, 20th Century Fox and New Regency purchased the rights to the movie, beating out strong interest from a number of rival parties, and have handed production to Reynolds' Maximum Effort company and Vertigo Entertainment. There remains no word regarding directors, casting or a potential release date as of yet.
