Microwave ovens can heat up your food pretty fast. But, in most cases, the food may taste shittier than if you have the time/patience to use a regular oven. Microwaves heat food through radiation, which can also explode a person's head if one can figure out how to do it right. This week on Longlivethevoid, we're going through a list of 7 Horror movies that had the chestnuts to try this or something similar. Here are...

7 Microwave Moments In Horror

Spoilers Ahead

#7 Microwave Massacre.gif

7. Microwave Massacre (1983)

You'd think with a name like 'Microwave Massacre' this movie would be number one or at least near the top. The fact is, the murders in this movie happen from other objects. The microwave is for storing and "cooking".

This movie also has the biggest microwave I've ever seen. It looks more like a regular oven.

There's blood, but there's not that much. There's humor, but it's not that funny. Still, it's so bad that unintentional laughs can be had. It's entertaining in that kind of way. I had a few scenes to choose from to make a GIF, and I ended up going with this one. Enjoy. 😀

#6 Book of Monsters.gif

6. Book of Monsters (2018)

Horror-Comedies if done right, are hysterical and worth spending time watching. This movie sets into gear and stays fully gunned till the bloody end. It throws all kinds of practical, gory fx at our decrepit faces. It's good at tossing some laughs our way, too. The microwave scene is one of the tamer yet, funnier bits. Some little bastard monster get himself nuked and our heros get to move onto grislier monsters to slay.

#5 Urban Legend.gif

5.Urban Legend (1998)

I didn't like this scene when I was a kid and I don't like it as an adult. I never cared for animal deaths in movies. And I definitely don't want to see it for real. That's one reason I won't watch Cannibal Holocaust again. Anyway, I can't deny the affect this scene has. Plus, it only shows the aftermath of the microwave murder, no ugly visual.

#4 Drive-Thru.gif

4. Drive-Thru (2007)

This is a fuckin weird one... as if all of them aren't weird, but it looks cool so it made this list. 'Drive-Thru' reeks of the mid-2000's, but if you accept that, it can be a worthy watch. I just have to say, the time these killers in this list have to make these microwaves into murder weapons is staggering. Give this one a view if you don't mind a bit of silliness with your gore.

#3 The Last House On The Left.gif

3. The Last House On The Left (2009)

I, along with many people who saw this movie think this last scene is preposterous. Not that Horror doesn't have the right to be preposterous, it's just that 'The Last House On The Left' played it straight till this ending appeared. I'll always give a movie points for being different, this just seemed so… nonsensical. Still looks cool, though.

#2 Superstition.gif

2. Superstition (1982)

These last two may be the most... believable... I guess you could say. 'Superstition' is a hidden gem. If you've never heard of it and like the early 80's era of Horror, I can pretty much guarantee you'll enjoy this one. This is the first murder of the film, and I'm thinking it might have been the first death-by-microwave scene ever put on film. This GIF does the scene a little justice, but seeing it play out in the movie itself is worth seeing.

1. Gremlins (1984)

#1 Gremlins.gif

Well, I couldn't leave this one off the list... it's awesome! Joe Dante's 'Gremlins' is memorable for so many reasons: One being the amazing Dick Miller. Another reason being a gremlin exploding in a microwave, thanks to a couple of quick moves by Mrs. Peltzer. This scene is intense for this film. I give Spielberg and Donte credit, 'Gremlins' is near perfect, and this mean fucker getting heated to death shows the fun this movie is all about.
