‘Scarface’ Director Brian De Palma Planning ‘Horror Movie’ About Harvey Weinstein

001.jpg

“As a director you have to get actors’ confidence and their love in order to be able to use their instrument in your movie,” added De Palma, 77. “And to violate it on any level is just to me the worst thing you can do, just because of your gluttony or your lust.”

Having worked in the film industry for decades, De Palma admitted he’d “heard stories over the years” about casting-couch situations. “I always reacted very strongly to anybody that was doing such things. And of course, you would hear stories about the most notorious people.”

Slender Man’ Being Shopped to Other Studios as Sony, Producers Clash

003.jpg

“The producers have triggered a clause in their contract that allows them to solicit higher offers. They’ve shown the film to several studios including Netflix and Amazon, but some companies that have seen the nearly completed picture are skeptical about its commercial potential.

It is extremely rare for a film to be shopped to other studios so close to its scheduled release. Sony has already debuted a trailer for the film, and unveiled posters, and promotional images. Presumably whoever buys the film would have to pay the studio back for any expenses it incurred.”

EXCLUSIVE: Breakdowns For ‘SWAMP THING’ Reveal Details On Series Leads!

004.jpg

‘“There you have our two leads for the Swamp Thing project as we have quite the story for both of the characters in the pilot. Not only is Wan involved as an executive producer, the series is being written by Mark Verheiden (Smallville, Battlestar Galactica, Marvel’s Daredevil) and Gary Dauberman (IT) who would serve as showrunners. Swamp Thing is one of several projects that are coming to the DC Universe channel.”

The Crow’ Remake Grounded Again: Jason Momoa & Director Corin Hardy Exit

006.jpg

“Hardy, whose next film is The Conjuring spinoff The Nun, made his live-action feature directing debut on The Hallow, after drawing acclaim for his animated short Butterfly and for directing music videos for Ed Sheeran and others. Relativity Media, which had the rights, set him to direct an earlier iteration of The Crow redo, after Edgar Wright raved about his work to Edward R. Pressman, who produced the first film. Creative and financial turbulence within Relativity led Hardy to exit back then, and after Relativity imploded in bankruptcy, Hadida acquired the underlying rights and set it with Highland Film Group and put the pieces back together. Hardy sparked to a return with Momoa, the Game of Thrones and Aquaman star who signed on to play the role originated by Lee, who died while making the film.”

Horror At The Box-Office

013.jpg

The only semi-relatable horror news that we can bring you this week is the release of “Upgrade” which has been doing quite amazingly considering it’s only been given a third of the theaters to run in than most other films currently have. Even at these numbers, $4.5 million dollars over the course of a 1,500 theater run is no laughing matter and with the 91% approval rating from the ‘Rotten Tomatoes” audience score, I would be far from surprised if Blumhouse decided to expand the film’s theatrical numbers in order to really cash in on “Upgrade’s” current success. And as they say, word of mouth can help drastically when it comes to sales and I don’t see this scenario being any different!

If they do decide to expand however, they have to keep in mind that “Hereditary” which has gotten a bit of its own build leading into their opening weekend, will be sure to make a massive splash in the current market.

Horror icons and urban legends clash in a battle to the death in Terrordrome: Reign of the Legends, an original fighting game from the team that brought you Terrordrome: Rise of the Boogeymen. TRDM: ROTL explores legends, folklore, myths and the paranormal both in its characters and stages, while incorporating conspiracy theories as the base material for the storyline. Legends and icons are re-imagined in a story set in the present day, continuing the legacy of many of the world’s favorite monsters and cryptids.

HORROR SHOP OF THE WEEK: TWISTED WONDERLAND PERFUMERY

Besides all things horror, my obsessions can generally be summed up by one word: SMELLS. I have a pathological need to be surrounded at all times by great scents.

I have a weakness for items that fill my house with inviting aromas, including candles, wax melts, and room sprays. And my beauty routine includes a healthy dose of body sprays and perfume, lotions, scented bath bombs and soaps, and body butters and scrubs.

As is also hopefully evident by this weekly column, I’m also obsessed with handmade products and try whenever possible to purchase from indie shops rather than items that have been mass produced. Not only is the quality generally significantly better, but I can feel great knowing there’s nothing artificial or harmful in my products. I also have the joy of knowing I’m helping support someone’s dream.

On top of all that, I’m a sucker for great service and customer care. And the shops I support are run by caring and passionate shop owners who truly respect and value each and every one of their customers. Many of them have become close friends of mine.

One of these wonderful shops I can’t recommend highly enough is Twisted Wonderland Perfumery. This is my one-stop-shop for all things to feed my indie scent addiction: bath products, perfumes, body and room sprays, wax melts, perfume oils, and more.

Run by an extremely talented shop owner out of upstate NY, Twisted Wonderland Perfumery combines her love for Alice in Wonderland, Smell-Goods, and all things Horror/Macabre. The product design and packaging is incredible, and everything looks as good as it smells.

All of her products are 100% cruelty-free. She sources all of her ingredients and components from cruelty-free suppliers. Almost all products are Vegan. So, not only can you indulge your desire for aromatic bliss, but you can feel great about how it’s made and how good it is for your home and body.
